1. Executive Summary

The BEYANA Empowerment Program for Divorced and Single Parents is a comprehensive initiative that supports women and men navigating the aftermath of divorce in Cameroon. Many face emotional trauma, social exclusion, and economic hardship. This program provides counselling for emotional healing, skills training for business development, and microfinance support to rebuild lives with dignity. Through this program, BEYANA (Be Encouraged You Are Not Alone) seeks to restore hope and stability to families.

2. Background and Problem Statement

In Cameroon, divorced and single parents, especially women, face emotional pain, isolation, poverty, and community rejection. Many are left to raise children alone without financial support or access to healing. There is an urgent need to address the emotional and financial toll divorce places on individuals and families. Through faith-based counselling and economic empowerment, BEYANA offers a transformative path forward.

3. Project Objectives

Overall Goal:

To provide emotional healing, financial empowerment, and long-term community support for divorced and single parents in Cameroon.

Specific Objectives:

– Offer professional counselling and trauma recovery services.

– Provide business training and startup capital for small businesses.

– Establish peer support and mentorship networks.

– Create visibility for beneficiaries’ products through market days.

4. Target Beneficiaries

– Divorced women and single mothers

– Single fathers raising children alone

Target Area: Northwest Region and other affected regions in Cameroon.

5. Project Activities

– Conduct group therapy and individual counselling sessions

– Organize trauma recovery and parenting workshops

– Deliver faith-based healing and emotional resilience training

– Provide training in marketing, bookkeeping, and business startup

– Disburse seed capital for small businesses

– Monitor progress and provide mentorship throughout the business cycle

– Organize market fairs for visibility and income generation

6. Expected Results

– 50+ single parents receive trauma-informed counselling

– 50 new small businesses are launched

– 250+ children benefit from emotionally and financially stable homes

– Empowered individuals become peer mentors and community leaders

7. Sustainability Strategy

– Launch BEYANA-branded products (soaps, juices, snacks) to generate internal funds

– Organize fundraising galas and community market days

– Establish a thrift shop managed by beneficiaries

– Encourage business reinvestment and peer mentorship
